Blurb:

A year ago Declan Jasper was entertaining sold-out arena crowds as the lead singer of Black Rainbows. But that came to an explosive end when the band got caught up in a criminal cover-up, one that ended with the entire band dead. At least that’s what everyone is supposed to think.

Now, Dex is hiding in plain sight, working as the school band director in a sleepy little mountain resort town while under the protection of a hard-nosed FBI agent. Instead of eyeliner and black leather, he now wears glasses and corduroy. Instead of having sexy coeds—both male and female—throw themselves into his bed, he’s dealing with teenage angst and grumpy parents.

At the top of his troubles list is Kelsey Walker, a junior high bundle of rare musical talent in the form of one confused, messed-up adolescent. Dex figures the problem comes from her broken home and wants to help. But when he meets her father, sexy bar-owner, Jack Walker, he realizes that instead of helping he’s probably just bringing more trouble and danger to their door.

Dex has to stay alive until the trial to bring his bandmates’ murderers to justice, but can he do that if it means sacrificing his own happily ever after?

Review

I’m a sucker for a good M/M suspense, it happens to be my favorite sub-genre,  and this book was everything I was looking for.  After suffering through the loss of 3 of his best friends and bandmates, Declan “Dex” Jasper/Finn Alexander has put his life on hold and pretened to be dead to bring a murderer to justice.

But teaching junior high band, was not something he was looking forward to facing.  When he meets bar owner Jack and his 12-year-old daughter Kelsey, Finn thinks this is not such a bad set up.
Loved how Dex knew that Kelsey heard music in her head,  and set up to let it loose.
The suspense really doesn’t build up until about 60% into book, but the ride the author takes you on to get there made it worth while.

ABOUT  THE  AUTHOR

As an avid reader my entire life, I’ve always dreamed of writing books that brought to others the kind of joy I feel when I read.

But…I never did anything about it besides jot down a few ideas and sparse scenes.

When I turned 41, I decided it was time to go after my dream and started writing. Within four months, I’d written over 150,000 words and haven’t stopped since. I’ve found my passion by writing about sexy, alpha heroes and smart, tough heroines falling in love and finding their passion. I’m truly living the dream and loving every minute of it.

My tagline is…

Passion and adventure on the road to Happily Ever After. I have to admit, I am loving this adventure!

Misfits by Garrett Leigh

MisfitsMisfits by Garrett Leigh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Let me start with….. never has a book cover fit a book so perfect. Just by looking at it, it really doesn’t speak to you, but once you hit the last page, its like HOLY SHIT, she nailed it!!!!

This book was simply put.. AMAZING, dealing with a condition I had no experience with, and she really did her research. I felt every tic, slap, buzz that Jake made through the story. What a diverse set of individuals she gave us for this story. Tom had my heart, Cass had my soul, and Jake had my everything. This is more than a love story, more than a menage, it a story of discovery. so greatly written I read it in one setting. This is only the second book I’ve read from this author but it will not be my last.

A Restored Man (The Men of Halfway House Book # 3) by Jaime Reese

A Restored Man (The Men of Halfway House, #3)A Restored Man by Jaime Reese
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has so much aspects to it, the feelings of betrayal, the feeling of guilt and remorse. Jaime put together a great couple. We met Cole in “A Hunted Man (The Men of Halfway House #2). I loved his wit, his way of totally pissing off everyone in HH. This beanie wearing smartass, stole my heart in this book. We finally was giving the “scoop” of what makes Cole tick.

Enter Ty Calloway, a man with his own secrets, that hs is holding very close to his vest. Can Cole give Ty what he needs? Make him let him behind that wall he keeps closed up was tightly?

Glad to say that Cole has great character and maybe exactly what Ty needs to let go of the past and live for the future.

Cole and Ty is by far the best couple that Jaime has giving us in the Men of Halfway House series, don’t get me wrong, Julian, Matt, Cam and Hunter are great, but Cole and Ty SPOKE to me. From the 1st page to the last I was completely caught up in this book, I read it in one sitting, Could.Not.Put.It.Down. Looking forward to what Jaime has for us in future books in this series.

Rise & Fall (THIRDS) Book 4 by Charlie Cochet

Rise & Fall (THIRDS, #4)Rise & Fall by Charlie Cochet
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t say enough about this series, maybe its because I’m an 80’s child, but this series gets to me with every new book that Charlie writes. Rack & Ruin left us with absolutely the best WTF??? scenrio EVA!!! Book #4 opens with Ash threatening to kill Dex ‘YOU’RE GOING to get us fucking killed!’ is by far the BEST opening line in for a book, especially when you know Ash is this big badass Therian scared of a little humans’ driving style.

One question? What is up with the nurse Dex recognizes in Sloanes Hosiptal room?? (((Conspriacy))) LOL
Up until now we have only read bits and pieces of Sloanes friend Austen, {I have to say that I fell in Love with Austen in this book} He is effing hilariuos and sneaky as shit! “Is everyone fucking in this unit, and how can I get in line?’ Classic Austen!

This book is a lot of Dex and Sloan and the aftermath of the ending of book 3 but we get another side of Dex, one that I had no idea could be lurking under all that Wiseassry. We get promising insight into Calvin & Hobbs as well as Ash & Caels relationships. YUMMY!!!

Charlie has quickly became my favorite author in the last 6 months, I have purchased this series in both ebook format and paperback, as well as audiobook. I truly cannot get enough of my “WildChild” Dexter “Dex” Daley.

Stones in the Road (Sugar Tree 2) by Nick Wilgus

Stones in the Road (Sugar Tree #2)Stones in the Road by Nick Wilgus
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Is is really possible to read your top book of the year in Febuary? I DO!! When I bought "Shaking the Sugar Tree" last year, it only had a few reviews, but the story sounded interesting to me. It ended up being my Top 2 read of 2014. Now Mr. Wilgus has hit me with Book 2, all I can say is "butter my butt and feed me a buscuit" this book is astounding. I laughed my ass off at Wiley and Jackson's Mom, I also blubbered like a baby. Wiley completes me, Wiley entertains me, and Wiley gets ME. Well done Mr. Wilgus, well done indeed.
